Dumka — learn anything, forget nothing: spaced repetition flashcards on iPad

Dumka is a spaced repetition flashcards app for iPhone — a free Anki alternative that's lighter and friendlier. Named after a little elephant who never forgets, it turns studying into a few calm minutes a day: read the question, pull the answer from memory, swipe to say whether you knew it. An SRS algorithm does the bookkeeping and slides each card back into view right before it would slip your mind. Learn a language, prep for an exam, or just hold on to the things you love.

Spaced repetition, handled

Every card is scheduled against your own forgetting curve. Cards you know return later and less often; cards you miss come back tomorrow. Nothing to tune — just study.

Active recall by design

Each card opens with the question. You pull the answer from memory before flipping to check — that small effort is what makes it stick.

Knew it? Swipe right

Didn't? Swipe left. That's the whole grading system, and it's how Dumka learns what's hard for you. Prefer buttons? Tap instead.

Ten minutes a day

Set a daily goal and feed Dumka a few cards. Exams, quizzes, math, history, languages — it all sticks without late-night cramming.

Cards about anything

Make them one at a time or many at once, and add a photo to the question or the answer when a picture makes the memory stronger.

Import a whole deck

Build a Q&A table in any spreadsheet, export it as CSV and import it in one tap. Pick Normal, Frequent or Intensive to match your pace.

Private and offline

Your cards live on your device and nowhere else. No account, no cloud, no tracking — and it all works on a plane.

Free, and light

A native SwiftUI app under 12 MB, in 20 languages. Free on the App Store, with nothing to unlock.

Is Dumka a free Anki alternative?

Yes. Dumka gives you the part of Anki most people actually need — spaced repetition, active recall and your own decks — in an app that's free, native to iPhone and pleasant to look at. There's no add-on system and no scheduler to configure; you just study.

What is spaced repetition?

It's a study method that shows you a card just as you're about to forget it. Each successful recall pushes the next review further out, so your time goes to the material that's actually slipping. Spaced learning is one of the most well-supported findings in memory research.

How does the spaced repetition schedule work in Dumka?

After you flip a card, tell Dumka whether you knew it. Cards you know come back later and less often; cards you miss come back sooner. Every card is tracked separately, so your review queue always matches your own forgetting curve.

Can I import my existing flashcards?

Yes. Build a Q&A table in any spreadsheet — or export your deck from another app as plain-text CSV — and import it into Dumka as a full deck in one tap.

How do I grade a card?

Knew it? Swipe right. Didn't? Swipe left. Or tap the matching button — whichever feels faster.

Is Dumka free?

Yes, Dumka is free to download on the App Store. No subscription, no paywalled decks.

Is my data private?

Yes. Your cards live entirely on your device. There's no account, no cloud sync and no tracking — Dumka works fully offline.

What do I need to run it?

An iPhone on iOS 18 or later. Dumka is a native SwiftUI app under 12 MB, available in 20 languages including English, German, Russian, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean and Portuguese.

Never forget again

Come remember things with Dumka the elephant.
